Stardew Valley Luau Festival Guide – Master the Potluck
The Luau Festival is one of the most awaited, talked about, enjoyable and exciting events in Stardew Valley APK. It offers the players an excellent opportunity to relax, enjoy and engage with the villagers. Not only this, players can gain valuable friendship points and make a good impression on the villages and mayor.
The festival is attended by all residents including the mayor. The only residents who don’t attend are Sandy, the Wizard, the Dwarf and Krobus. Moreover, Kent and Leo attend only if they have shifted to the Valley otherwise they don’t attend. You will not gain or lose any Friendship with these characters.
Remember, your friendship with Leo and Kent will remain unaffected even if they attend the festival.

It is held annually on the Pelican Beach every 11th of the Summer. The festival timings are from 9 a.m. till 10 p.m. However, entry is allowed only till 2 p.m. so you should plan the day accordingly. All the shops are closed on the day of the festival.
Once the mayor tastes and judges the Potluck soup, you are automatically returned to your farm at 10 p.m.
Leading to the days of the festival, you will get a personalized letter with your name on it from Mayor Lewis, inviting you like the one shown above.

Pierre sets up a special booth with special items that the players can purchase. These items are not available otherwise and are exclusive to the festival. Therefore, remember to bring enough gold to purchase anything you need.

The collection might vary slightly each year. Also, if there are new updates, there might be new items.
Special Items at Pierre’s Shop
Some of the very special items you can get at the shop include:
Again, these items are expensive so stock up on your gold and bring it to the festival.
There are other merchants that are selling items at the festival too. Keep an eye out for them as you might end up finding something worthwhile.
The main attraction at the Luau Festival is the making of the Potluck or Luau Soup. It is a large communal dish that is made by the villagers. Each player adds an ingredient to the soup. A lot depends on how the soup is made and how much the Governor likes it. Depending on the ingredients that you add, you will get a response from the Governor.
The response of the Governor decides whether you gain Friendship points or lose them with the villagers.
The quality of the ingredients, base selling price and edibility are important determinants of how the Governor will like your soup. However, there is one secret ingredient that adding to the soup will get you a secret response from the Governor! Read on to know more about it.
Some of the best items that a player can add to the Luau Soup in Stardew Valley include the following:
Some of the examples of these items include:
It is a good idea to avoid adding low-quality fish, inedible items or trash.
Some items to avoid adding to the soup are:
Remember when Mayor Lewis asked everyone to look for these shorts? Yes, those Mayor Lewis’s Lucky Purple Shorts that he lost. Adding them to the Potluck soup will end up in a hilarious prank on the villagers and the mayor himself. When you add the shorts, you will get a secret response.
IMPORTANT: It is important to know that adding the shorts will not help the player gain/lose any friendship points with the villagers. Your points will remain unaffected.
How to Find the Shorts?
Before you go ahead and add Lewis’ shorts to the soup, you will need to find them.
Friendship Points and the Governor’s Reaction
The entire point of adding ingredients and making the soup is to get a positive response from the governor. If the governor is happy, you will get as much as 120 Friendship points with each villager.
There are 7 potential responses that you can get from the Governor. The following section covers these responses in detail from best to worst.
Response | Friendship Points |
Best Response | 120 friendship points gained |
Good Response | 60 friendship points gained |
Neutral Response | O friendship points gained/lost |
Missing Something Response | O friendship points gained/lost |
Bad Response | 50 friendship points lost |
Worst Response | 100 friendship points lost |
Secret Response | O friendship points gained/lost |
1. Best Response
Governor: “Oh my …. That’s the best soup I’ve ever tasted”
Lewis: “You’re right … it’s delicious”
This is the best response that a player can have when they add the finest-quality materials to the Potluck soup. These include iridium and gold-quality items, high-value ingredients and artisan goods. Some of the items you can put in the soup to ensure this response include:
2. Good Response
Governor: “Ah…. That’s a very pleasant soup. The produce from this valley never disappoints!”
Lewis: “Mmmm…. Tasty. You all did very well today.”
Adding common goods, silver and gold-quality items gives you a good response. You gain 60 Friendship points when you get this response from the Governor. Some of the items to add to the soup to get a good response include:
3. Natural Response
Governor: “Hmmmmmm……I don’t have much to say about this. It’s an average soup.”
Lewis: “He’s right … It’s nothing special. Not bad, though.”
This response shows that the governor is neither happy nor upset about the soup. Getting this response does not gain or make you lose any points. Following are some of the items that adding to the Luau soup will result in this response:
4. Bad Response
Governor: “Ummm… It’s actually kind of disgusting. I think I’ll pass on the soup this year.”
Lewis: “Yuck. Someone must have ruined it with a poor-quality ingredient.”
Undoubtedly, the Governor is not satisfied with the soup. Adding poor quality items or items of the silver-tier items results in the soup being bland and disgusting. A bad response from the Governor results in a loss of 50 Friendship points. Some of the items that do this are:
5. Worst Response
Governor: “Blech! This is vile! I think I’m going to be sick…..I need to lie down”
Lewis: “Good going, people … Whoever put that foul ingredient in the soup made the Governor pass out! I’m ashamed”
This is the response that the Governor and Lewis will give if there is something very distasteful in the soup. These are the items that make you lose a lot of health at once. You will immediately lose 100 Friendship points with all the villagers who are attending if this occurs. These ingredients include:
6. Missing Something Response
Governor: “Hmmmm.. Well, it’s not bad, but it’s missing something .. Did everyone in town contribute an ingredient to the soup? I feel like it’s missing someone’s unique voice.”
Lewis: “You’re right … It’s a little bland”
If a player does not add any ingredient to the soup, you will get this response. The player will not gain or lose any points in this situation. If you are playing in multiplayer mode, everyone needs to add something to the Luau soup, otherwise everyone will get this response.
7. Secret Response
You get a secret response when you add Mayor Lewis’ lost purple shorts to the Luau soup. However, this will not result in any points gained or lost.
